Childhood memories of constant doodling with a pencil (when meant to be studying) come to mind when Ellen Mairead looks back at how much she always enjoyed drawing. Inspired by the beautiful green pastures and quality land in the countryside of County Meath it is not surprising that horses are one of Ellen’s favourite subjects.

Co. Meath is home to many world-class equestrian horse training and stud farms. Having travelled worldwide Ellen is now living in Trim, Co Meath, Ireland and enjoying being inspired by her travels, local treasures such as Trim Castle and the many local equestrian sights.

Having grown up on a farm surrounded by animals she is planning on painting a collection that reflects this with a contemporary twist for the modern home.

She mostly paints in oils on canvas and loves the fluidity that oil painting gives.

Her love of the sea and swimming grew during her travels to Australia, South America and Southern Europe and this is also reflected in her work
